Painting rocks

20120728-120446.jpg

Today we decided to paint rocks!

This might sound silly but it was fun and cheap!

Kyler loves bringing a few rocks inside anyways so when I had him gather a few he was excited to help!

We used easy washable painting sponge tubes… I forget what they’re called at the moment. They’re also scented so he ends up with a few dots in his nose because he can’t resist the smell! 🙂

This was a fun, mess free project that I could definitely see doing again if he wanted!

Big brother nursery gift

We had these three boxes to hang on the wall in our guest room and ended up taking them out and putting them on a shelf in the garage to collect dust.

Now that we are getting the nursery ready for our little girl I would like to do as much DIY projects as possible to make it more homey and of course cheaper!

So I had the idea of having our son Kyler paint the boxes!

He had a great time and they came out super cute!

We used washable children’s paint to keep it as clean as possible.

Of course Ky had a bath immediately after and it easily wipes off of the kitchen floor!

This was definitely fun for all of us and a great gift to his soon to be little sister.

Crochet bear hat

Well we know this winter will be a warm, snuggly, adorable one for the babies!

Mom has made plenty of adorable has for her grandbabies.

Here is a bear hat that she just made for my brother’s soon to be son!

I think this hat is super adorable!!!!

She gets most of her yarn from Joanna fabric and a lot of patterns come from etsy or a google search.

I can’t remember where she said this pattern came from but if you’re interested leave a comment and I’ll be sure to figure it out!

Easy healthy delicious muffins

20120715-212819.jpg

Mom saw this on Pinterest. I think everyone can agree that Pinterest is an amazing place for ideas!

She also read somewhere that this is actually a weight watchers recipe and less than 100 calories.

These muffins are also healthier because you don’t add the oil. This recipe just takes one box of cake mix and one can of pumpkin.

20120715-213102.jpg

It’s very simple…

All you do is mix the can of pinking and cake mix together then fill muffin cups and bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

Dad put a smear of cream cheese on his and loved it!

Next time she’s going to try a box of spice cake mix.

Give it a go and enjoy a healthy and delicious snack!

Thanks for reading. 🙂

Crib and bedding

We have put the crib together!

We still have a little under three months to have everything ready for Annabella’s arrival so I haven’t started panicking yet.

I love to have everything ready way far in advance so I’m sure I’ll be going crazy soon.

Our son helps time fly by waiting for Annabella’s arrival. I remember waiting for him seemed like forever and now I feel like time is going by too fast.

While we were putting the. Rib together Kyler (our son) tore the styrofoam packing to bits and pieces!!!!! There’s a huge mess but he really enjoyed himself and we got the crib done while laughing at the same time.

We bought the crib bedding from The Land of Nod.

It was a bit pricey but the quality is great and I fell in love with the pattern.

We forgot to buy a mattress the last time we were out so I can’t put the bedding in yet but I will ASAP!

I can’t wait for the room to be finished and ready for our sweet baby girl.

Growing pumpkins

It’s so neat that this Halloween everyone will get to decorate and eat my parents pumpkins!

They look extra orange and fresh to me.

20120710-121928.jpg

They do what is called square foot gardening.

Everything is in raised beds.

They make their own soil.
1/3 peat, 1/3 vermiculite and 1/3 aged manure.
They don’t use pesticide or fertilizer.

They hardly get any weeds and the plants love it.

This type of gardening is easy for them to work with.

Growing onions

These are red candy onions.
