Fingerprint tree

20140319-201546.jpg

We did a fingerprint tree today for my parents. Grandparents love homemade gifts and they’re fun to make!

We ended up doing a second one so that I could hang one up at home!

I love this idea and they’re fun to do.

We got the free tree template here

New light fixture

We added a new light fixture to the kids room!

You have to put it together… Yes, it’s from ikea… how did you guess?

I actually bought it on amazon since we don’t have an ikea anywhere close to us.

We don’t have anything close to us actually! We drive 2 hours just to get to the grocery store!!!
Anyways, this took me about 20 minutes to make which I did on the way home from the post office.

We bought a pendant kit so that it could be on the ceiling instead of plugged into the wall.

I absolutely love it and makes the room look more modern! A great buy.

Chalkboard wall

I’ll start off by saying… Yes I know it’s not centered! 🙂 we are going to add a cup on the right side to hold chalk which will make up for the difference in space. 🙂

1. Tape off the size you want the board to be.
2. Paint on magnetic primer. I’d recommend three coats allow at least a half hour to dry in between each coat. (The primer takes a lot of stirring so have your hand ready to be in pain)
3. An hour after the last coast has dried add chalkboard paint. I did two coats with an hour in between the coats.
4. Allow 24 hours to dry completely then add your trim and you’re finished!

The final product!

Memory quilt

20140321-181509.jpg

I’m making each of my children quilts from their old clothes.

My sister says this is a waste of money spent but I say it’s priceless! I have a memory associated with most of their clothes and one day I can share them all with them!

Easter crafts with kids

Our shopping list this weekend includes supplies to do the following crafts!…

The instructions and supplies list can be found here
I can see my toddlers loving these on the windows. I can already picture my one year old constantly pointing to the window admiring their artwork ! I might be crazy. 🙂

This craft is fun because when do they ever use qtips? Kids love anything that’s new and fun. This is also good for motor skills.

Who doesn’t like to get a little messy? Isn’t that part of the fun in art?

Another easter craft we will do is a canvas. I will tape off a cross and let them paint the canvas as they like and once it’s dry I’ll take the tape off to reveal the outline of a cross.

These are all pretty cheap crafts that the kids will really enjoy!

Newborn caterpillar photo prop

I’m so in love with this costume! I found it on etsy but asked my mom to make it for me instead!

She can now make things by looking at the picture which is totally awesome!

Our baby will only be a few days old once Halloween comes so thought this caterpillar costume would be perfect and cozy for her 🙂

I can’t wait to see how hers turns out and to put our sweet baby girl in it!

Curtains

These are crocheted curtains using thread! Mom’s using them in her windows downstairs aka Dad’s Man Cave so you know they aren’t too girly!

This pattern must take awhile because she’s normally done in a flash! She’d been working on this for days, well putting it down and going back to it in between her many other projects. It was obviously worth the time though, I love the final look! It’s a fun, trendy pattern.

My Pinterest fail

Well I volunteered to make the punch for my friends baby shower. I found the cutest idea on Pinterest…

20140315-165127.jpg

Well when I put the blue packet of kool aid in it was actually red! Note to others… Just because the package is blue doesn’t mean the powder will be. That I thought would be ok… Boys are red too, it wasn’t pink!

Well then I added the ice cream which didn’t look foamy like the picture either. What’s going on?!?! At this point we couldn’t stop laughing at the fail.

Well the final touches were the floating ducks. Those didn’t float at all and kept going on their sides. Haha. My three year old kept saying… They’re dead, oh no, holy smokes!

We all did get a good laugh!

Spring wreath

Well I had a friend come over the other day and when I walked her out I realized I still had my winter wreath up!

How embarrassing!!!! 😉

I attempted a diy Easter egg wreath which involved lots of hot glue and a dash of frustration.

20140315-113335.jpg

I ended up scratching that wreath all together and stuck a ribbon on this one and hung it up!

A simple wreath but spring enough for me!

I’ll be sure to make a better summer wreath to share! 🙂
